Habilitar MOD_REWRITE en entorno LAMP Ubuntu
Cuando instalamos Ubuntu y queremos desarrollar aplicaciones webs en entorno LAMP (Linux Apache Mysql PHP). Puede que tengamos algunos conflictos si lo que queremos es usar Frameworks para PHP5 como Kumbia o CakePHP .
Para solucionar este conflicto debemos tener instalado y habilitado el Mod_rewrite de Apache.
Para que sirve el Mod_rewrite?
El Mod_rewrite es un módulo de apache que permite reescribir las urls que han utilizado nuestros usuarios a otras más simples y faciles de recordar para ellos, mejor conocidas como URL amigables, por ejemplo:
sin mode_rewrite, la URL seria: www.mipagina.com/actualidad.php?id=43234
con mode_rewrite podriamos hacer que sea: www.mipagina.com/2008/evento-linux
Permitiendo de esta forma un mejor posicionamiento en buscadores, porque a los robots de busqueda les es mas entendible este tipo de URLs.
Para usuarios que venian acostumbrados a configurar los parametros de Apache en el archivo httpd.conf , se daran cuenta de que este archivo en Ubuntu esta vacio (/etc/apache2/httpd.conf).
Entonces lo que hacemos es lo siguiente:
Habilitamos el mode_rewrite desde comandos
$sudo a2enmod rewrite
y luego
$sudo gedit /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/000-default
y reemplazamos en todas las veces en donde aparezca “Allow override none” por “Allow override All” y guardamos.
reiniciamos o relodeamos el Apache
$sudo /etc/init.d/Apache2 reload
y listo.
Con esto ya estaria funcionando nuestro Apache con Mod_rewrite habilitado en entorno LAMP para Ubuntu

I mean everytime there is an earthquake, a flood, an oil spill - there’s always a group of heartless people who rip off tax payers.
